Week Seven Analysis
Week Seven - Biggest Story
Steve sticks at summit of the standings, breaks Billy belief that he could bounce back from the bleakness of the bottom
League-Wide Summary
Highest Score: STEVE (129.54)
Lowest Score: ANTHONY (73.92)
Largest Margin of Victory: GREG (+45.66) over BILLY
Smallest Margin of Victory: PATRICK (+6.5) over CHARLES
Top Individual Performer: Bo Nix for ANDY (43.96)
Matchup 1: Steve (129.54) vs. Billy (111.96)
That’s right, big-old-meanie Steve won’t let poor Billy have a win even when he scores his season high point total of 112 points. I heard that Steve also kicks puppies when no one is looking, but that’s just a rumor that I heard from Andy.
- DEEP POCKETS: Steve had the highest overall score of the week (129.54), tied for the highest number of points on his bench (43), and had the highest total points when bench and starters are calculated together (173)
- THAT’S TIGHT YO: Steve had the best score from a Tight End this week, with 19.4 points from Waller
- PROJECTION SMOJECTION: Both teams exceeded their total projection by over 18 points.
- REVERSE DOLPHINS: At this rate, Billy could be on track for the leagues first winless season, although scoring more than 100 points in 2 of the last 3 games suggests that there’s a chance that he can still spoil some people’s chances to make the playoffs.
Matchup 2: Andrew (123.96) vs. Andy (115.46)
It was a close game for the wonder twins. They practically share the same name, they were both Webelos at the same young age, they’ve both worked as teachers, they’re both are married to women who’s first name starts with a J, and they’re both mediocre at fantasy football. Andrew is slightly less mediocre, and this weekend it was his turn to shine!
- BENCH BOOM: Andy’s team had a respectable performance, but his starting WR failed him while the WR on his bench could have won him the game. CeeDee Lamb and Tee Higgins were both on the bench and could have combined for 30 more points had they been started over Odunze and Waddle.
- CORE STRENGTH: Once again, Andrew’s team was anchored by monster numbers from Jonathan Taylor, and this week he managed to pick a great option in QB Streaming with Dak Prescott’s 29 points.
- RISING TIDE: This victory for Andrew marks his third week in a row with a win, bringing him up from the basement into third place. Meanwhile, this is Andy’s second consecutive loss and he’s now dropped to his season lowpoint of 8th place.
- QB TOPS: Despite his loss, Andy can take consolation in knowing that he had the highest QB score of the week with 43.96 points from Bo Nix. Maybe it’s BO-TIME?
Matchup 3: Mike (122.44) vs. Keith (91.76)
That’s right, big-old-meanie Mike won’t let poor Keith… Ah shit we used that one already. Mike had a great game but the big story is Keith’s team imploding like that submarine full of rich people that the crazy dude built in his basement last summer.
- STACK ATTACK: A big factor in Mike’s victory was his QB/WR stack of Mahommes and Rice, who combined for almost 50 points in the 31-0 victory that Kansas City had over Las Vegas.
- FIZZLING OUT: Keith was off to a great start with Aaron Rodgers scoring 32 points on Thursday night, but the rest his team couldn’t hang and he was let down with multiple players scoring 5 points or less.
- LITTLE MISTAKE: This week’s lowest score from a player that didn’t end with a zero came from Keith’s kicker Cam Little, who scored 1 point
Matchup 4: Patrick (122.54) vs. Charles (116.04)
While it wasn’t a game with a razor thin margin, this was the closest game of the week with a 6.5 point differential in the final score. Charles had a great game but Pat was like “Let me show you how it’s done”, but then Charles was all like “Nah, that’s some bullshit how you gonna pick up Rhamondre Stevenson and then he has his best game of the year, that’s suspicious as fuck someone needs to look into that”. Wow, dramatic!
- QB QUESTIONMARK: With an injured Lamar Jackson, Charles has been trying to squeak by with Goff as his backup QB but was let down big by a 13 point performance against a middling Buccaneers Defense.
- ROCKSTAR RUNNINGBACK: A big part of Patrick’s win was Gibbs with the highest RB score of the week at 33.8 points.
- WIN WITHOUT WILLIAMS: On the other end of the Lions spectrum, Patrick still managed to get the victory despite a complete no-show from one of his WR, Jameson Williams, who went through the entire game without a single catch
- DEFENSIVE DIFFERENCE: Despite a big outing from Charle’s own Houston Texans D, the 22.5 points wasn’t enough for a win, while Patrick’s .5 from the Chargers D was a disappointment but didn’t cost him the game. But hey, Charles did have the highest kicker score this week with 17.5 points from Lutz, so that’s nice
Matchup 5: Greg (119.58) vs. Anthony (73.92)
This was the biggest blowout of the week with Greg stomping Anthony by more than 45 points. There's not much positive to say about Anthony's team, but it's okay because I'm sure he doesn't have any of these players in the 5 other leagues that he plays in, so he's probably doing great in those.
- UNDERACHIEVER: Anthony had the largest underperformance of the week, scoring 25 points less than originally projected and losing by the largest margin
- LETDOWN LINE: In a week with several major letdowns, Anthony’s Pittsburgh Defense was the biggest bust, scoring only 2.5 points against a projected 11.
- BIG PLAYERS: Greg’s victory was built on a handful of huge performances that made up for the middling outings from other players. Stafford and DeVonta Smith combined for almost half of his 120 points, and Greg had the highest score from a Defense this week with 15.8 points from Philly
