2014 Season Recap

Greg brought home his second league championship in 2014, pulling off a repeat from his previous year’s dominance

  • Final record 9-5 from draft slot two
  • First three selections were Jamaal Charles then Giovani Bernard then Alshon Jeffery
  • Added Rob Gronkowski in round five and Cam Newton in round six which raised weekly ceiling without sacrificing floor
  • Points for 1421.86 and points against 1325.76 across the season
  • Longest streak W-7 which set up playoff seeding and momentum
  • Made 26 roster moves which maintained depth while keeping the core intact
  • Draft approach leaned RB plus WR early with an elite tight end value in the middle rounds
  • Early defense pick in round nine did not derail depth because later wide receivers produced usable totals
  • Championship opponent was Billy in Week 16 and the title closed out a consistent year built on mid range scoring rather than boom or bust swings

Around the league

  • Billy led points for at 1557.70 and finished 8-6 while Keith was close behind at 1552.78 with a 10-4 finish
  • Andrew faced the toughest slate with 1575.42 points against which was the highest in the league
  • Andy logged a rare zero move season at 7-7 while Keith and Bill topped the activity board with 38 and 36 moves
  • First round strategies varied with Billy, taking Peyton Manning at eight, Keith taking Drew Brees at ten, Stack selecting Jimmy Graham at nine, and Tristen opening with Calvin Johnson at seven
  • Despite the variety at the top of round one the playoff picture still featured traditional RB anchors plus one or two premium pass catchers on most rosters

Andrew finished last at 2-12 from draft slot five

  • Top three picks were Matt Forte then A J Green then Andrew Luck
  • Luck produced at an elite level while Green missed time which reduced weekly stability and Forte’s production could not offset the volatility
  • Points for 1383.46 with a closing streak of L-7 and twelve moves which left limited room to patch injuries and bye weeks
  • The combination of heavy points against and midseason availability issues at wide receiver explains the gap between draft board promise and weekly outcomes
